Promoting over-the-counter multiple payment options

1.  Introduction

To provide a better administrative fee payment service to the public, and to cooperate with the Executive Yuan to promote the popularization of electronic and mobile payment policies, the NIA is actively planning to promote multiple payment methods to foster an environment conducive to mobile payment, provide the public with convenient payment methods, as well as increase administrative effectiveness.

2.  Promotional methods and results

2.1 Strategies

The NIA provides services to local citizens and foreigners. The NIA established service points in all municipalities, counties (cities), airports and seaports. In order to enable the public to enjoy the convenience of multiple payment, the NIA aims at achieving "Credit Card Payment at the Counter" and "Accelerating the Development of Mobile Payment", and continues to promote multiple payment options.

2.2 Promotional methods

In consideration of the diverse characteristics of the public, the NIA gives priority to the promotion of credit card payment at the counter. In order to adapt to varying environment conditions, international credit card payment mechanism was adopted at all international airports and seaports,while domestic credit card payment mechanism was introduced in all service centers.

Moreover, the NIA also plans to adopt "Taiwan Pay" mobile payment service at the counter. People can easily scan the code and pay by simply downloading the Taiwan Pay APP and binding their bank card.

2.3.Results

Since July 1st, 2020, 25 service centers in all municipalities and counties (cities), as well as 7 international airports and ports have adopted the credit card payment system or ''Taiwan Pay'' mobile payment service for the public to pay administrative fees.

3.  Conclusion

In response to the post-pandemic era, the use of non-cash payment has become an important trend. . In addition to maintaining border security, the NIA will continue to improve payment services and promote zero contact payments in line with the relevant domestic epidemic prevention measures in the future, so that Taiwan nationals and foreigners can both enjoy the friendly services and conveniences of life by using the mobile payment services.
