Where Did Taiwanese Travel Abroad in 2025? Top 10 Destinations Revealed According to the National Immigration Agency, Taiwanese citizens made a total of 18.944 million outbound trips in 2025. Japan ranked as the top destination with 6.731 million visits, followed by mainland China (3.238 million), Korea (1.835 million), Hong Kong (1.626 million), Vietnam (1.214 million), and Thailand (1.027 million)—all exceeding one million visits.

To support growing travel demand, the National Immigration Agency has introduced next-generation automated immigration clearance system (e-Gate) at major airports and seaports nationwide. This system features on-site registration and are available to holders of Taiwan e-passports as well as foreign residents with valid residence permits. Travelers aged 10 and above and at least 120 cm in height can use e-Gate for both arrivals and departures, offering a faster, smarter, and more convenient clearance experience.
