The National Immigration Agency (NIA) under the Ministry of the Interior has issued a clarification regarding a document circulating online titled “Notice of Lifting Entry Restrictions and Amnesty Approval.” The NIA emphasized that this document was not issued by the agency, and that no fees are required for applying to lift entry restrictions. The individuals involved are suspected of fraud under the Criminal Code. Members of the public are encouraged to report such cases to the National Police Agency or local NIA service units, and are urged not to trust or engage with unofficial channels to avoid potential losses.The NIA further explained that foreigners who have been lawfully barred from entry may apply to lift or shorten the restriction period if they meet the legal requirements. All applications are reviewed in accordance with the law, and results are issued through official written notifications. No fees are charged for these applications. The public is advised not to trust online documents or false information. Any claims that restrictions can be lifted through payment or expedited through unofficial means are fraudulent schemes.
The NIA stressed that impersonating government agencies to obtain financial gain constitutes aggravated fraud, which carries a maximum penalty of up to seven years’ imprisonment. The agency warned that such offenses will be strictly prosecuted.
