With the Lunar New Year holiday approaching, Kinmen Shuitou Harbor is set to experience a peak in inbound and outbound passenger traffic under the Mini Three Links. To provide returning travelers with smoother immigration clearance services, the newly completed “Kinmen Shuitou Harbor Passenger Service Center,” a new landmark at the national gateway, has significantly expanded waiting areas and optimized passenger flow lines for arrival and departure clearance. All on-site agencies have completed their transportation and passenger flow arrangements. In addition to deploying adequate frontline personnel for passenger facilitation, the National Immigration Agency’s (NIA) Border Affairs Corps has completed the installation of the new generation e-Gate at the new passenger service center. Featuring on-site registration within the gate, dynamic facial recognition, and multilingual voice guidance, the new generation e-Gate is available to travelers aged 10 or above and at least 120 centimeters in height, including Taiwanese nationals holding chip-enabled passports and foreign nationals with valid residence permits. Eligible travelers may register and clear immigration directly at the gate, with the entire process taking as little as 10 seconds. Qualified travelers are encouraged to experience this fast and convenient immigration clearance service.According to the NIA, the new passenger service center is equipped with seven new generation e-Gate lanes in the departure inspection area and three lanes in the arrival inspection area. The new generation e-Gate features an intuitive and user-friendly interface. Travelers who have not yet registered may choose to enroll using facial recognition only, or facial recognition combined with fingerprint capture, completing registration and immigration inspection simultaneously. This allows travelers to bypass the previous requirement of lining up at manned counters for registration. Once registered, Taiwanese nationals are not required to re-register even if they later renew their passports. Eligible travelers are welcome to experience the convenience of immigration clearance enabled by innovative technology.
The new passenger service center not only enhances the image of Kinmen as a national gateway, but also firmly establishes Kinmen Shuitou Harbor as a landmark entry point. As the Lunar New Year holiday travel peak approaches, all on-site agencies are fully prepared to meet the challenge. The NIA also reminds Mini Three Links travelers to make greater use of the new generation e-Gate, ensuring a smoother, more relaxed, and comfortable journey home for family reunions.
