The 2024 Multicultural Camp for New Immigrant Children concluded today (19th) with a vibrant closing ceremony and results showcase presentation. This event highlighted the creative endeavors of 31 new immigrant children and local youths, who collaborated to create a "Social Innovation Business Blueprint." Their projects demonstrated an exceptional blend of social innovation with the rich cultural heritages of their families' origins, leaving the audience thoroughly impressed.Bill Chung, Director-General of the National Immigration Agency (NIA) emphasized that the camp's focus this year was on social innovation, urging participants to delve into their diverse cultural backgrounds. By integrating innovative, sustainable, and coexistence principles, they presented new visions of multiculturalism through a mix of text, images, and videos. The event concluded with a competition where three top teams were awarded NT$6,000 each, recognizing their innovative works.One of the participants, Ms. Chang, is currently studying in the Department of Arts and Design at National Taipei University of Education. Her mother is from Indonesia, and she grew up immersed in the cultures of both countries. With her diverse family background, she has been able to use her experiences to assist foreign students at her school. Last year, she participated in a digital learning companion program, which deepened her understanding of the educational resource gap between urban and rural areas. She hopes to contribute to rural education in the future.NIA Director-General Bill Chung expressed his hope that each participant will leverage their strengths in the future, practicing the spirit of multiculturalism and social innovation in their daily lives. He encouraged them to face challenges bravely and weave their own remarkable blueprint of life.
