Taipei, July 27 (CNA) A high-profile Chinese media delegation arrived in Taipei Monday for a week-long visit aimed at promoting news exchanges and the establishment of reciprocal media company offices in Taiwan and China.

The 16-member delegation, headed by Yang Yi, spokesman for China's Taiwan Affairs Office, is composed of senior executives of major Chinese media organizations. Among the members is Hu Xiaohan, information division head of the Communist Party of China's Central Publicity Department.

Yang said he last visited Taiwan in March this year.

"I managed to come again in four months. This personal experience seems to embody the development of relations across the Taiwan Strait, " Yang said, referring to the rapid warming-up in cross-strait relations over the past year after decades of confrontation.

Yang said he hopes his current visit will contribute to the mounting call for each side to allow media organizations from the other side to set up permanent offices.

During its stay, the delegation will visit major Taiwanese media organizations and tourist attractions, including those in southern Taiwan, which is known as pro-independence stronghold. (By Sofia Wu)
