To further enhance cooperation on immigration affairs and effectively combat human trafficking, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines and the Manila Economic and Cultural Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Cooperation in Immigration Affairs and Human Trafficking Prevention on 19 October 2020 in the Philippines. The cooperation on immigration affairs between Taiwan and the Philippines has been mutually beneficial in recent years. Filipino officials and experts have been invited to attend the International Workshop on Combating Human Trafficking which has been an annual event organized by Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency since 2007. The foregoing workshop has established a good model of communication and interaction for participants from various countries to discuss issues related to the prevention of human trafficking. With the signing of the above-mentioned MOU, the cooperation on immigration affairs and human trafficking prevention between Taiwan and the Philippines will be further strengthened and deepened.
