Because the border and flights bans imposed by several countries have yet to be lifted, migrant workers whose Alien Resident Certificates(ARCs) expire on or after March 31, 2020, can apply to the NIA service centers for a special departure date extension by submitting the proof such as Passenger Name Record (PNR), certificate of original booked flight suspension, cancellation, delay, reduction, etc.The special extension is as follows:
1.If the application is filed on or before the expiration date of ARC, the extension begins from the ARC’s expiration date.

2.If the application is filed after the ARC’s expiration date which should be on or after March 31, 2020, and the ARC holder is without violation of law and whereabouts unknown, the extension begins from the application date and the holder of ARC is exempt from fines.

For those whose ARCs have expired on or before March 30, 2020, please see the Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program; for further information, please visit the NIA website at https://www.immigration.gov.tw/5385/7445/146020/

The special extension is subject to change and may be adjusted as circumstances require.
