To control the spread of COVID-19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announces that starting on March 19, 2020, anyone who enters Taiwan (regardless of immigration or citizenship statuses) need to quarantine for 14 days, at home or at a hotel.

A previous policy specified that all foreigners (including residents of Hong Kong and Macao) who hold an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), as well as Taiwanese unregistered nationals, are required to update or apply for a resident certificate within 15 days of entering Taiwan. Because the aforementioned 14-day quarantine policy from CECC makes it challenging to meet this timeline, the due date has been extended from 15 days to 30 days. This policy change takes effect immediately, and might be reverted in the future depending on the situation of COVID-19 and future CECC announcements.
